A bit about me , so you know who you are dealing with, I'm a 55 year old semi retired professional musician , I work out of Minnesota USA and with wife & partner Dixie we own & run a successful Country Music Promotions Company. Having promoted Artists over the last 5 years or so we got to noticing just how many Artists out there especially the Independent Artists didn't have their own websites. So I decided to do something about it myself, I've dabbled with web design over the years and if I say so myself I can knock out a pretty decent website  lord knows with being webmaster to Triplestrand's 5 sites I get plenty of practice. So I thought why not let the Indie Artists /Songwriters/Lyricists out there benefit from the knowledge I've gained over the years and build cheap afforadable yet functional Websites JUST for Musicians & Musical related themes. They may not be the all singing all dancing Sites you see the Major Artists flaunting on the net , but I can guarantee you that they will be totally functional and more than adequate to get you that much needed web presence that today is almost essential to any Musician Major or Independent.

Getting your site built for you is just the start of it you then need somewhere to host your new creation. Browsing the WWW you'll see 1000's of Hosting sites all claiming to be THE BEST at what they do for the price they charge, As a Musician what you need is a hosting with large bandwidth ( The ammount of usuage that your site generates per month ) you need at least 3gigabytes of bandwidth per month that in my opinion is the Minimum get more if you can afford it, Yo'll need about 500 Megabyte of disk space this is adequate to host up to 50 mp3 files at 128kbs encode rate.Good hosting unfortunately does not come cheap it's usually a case of you get what you pay for. But a good compromise can be found with careful research. Then you need your Domain name ( whats that I hear you ask?) Your domain is what you call your site, this needs to be registered to be active and the usual cost of this is around $10 a year not terribly expensive but very very important especially for musicians. You can of course opt to go for a sub-domain name often offered by feee hosting sites but these tend not to get a lot of traffic as most major search engines like Google Yahoo Alta Vista etc etc disregard theses sub- domains as not REAL Websites , plus yourname.com  or (net,org, biz,or .us ) looks way better than freeweb.com/johndoe . Persona is everything in the Music business you not only have to sound good these days you gotta look the part too, that's why I'm still working for a living LOL.
